“I don’t think there has been this kind of excitement for the start of the season since I’ve been here,” New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony said, on Monday’s media day. Anthony joined the Knicks via a midseason trade in 2011, and has gone through more downs then ups in his tenure, so excitement is definitely something to look forward to for him as well as the fans.
Coming off a third straight season of missing the playoffs, the Knicks made some moves in hopes of ending that streak this upcoming season. Acquiring a former MVP in Derrick Rose was the big splash as well as adding solid role players in Joakim Noah, Courtney Lee and Brandon Jennings. Nine new faces being added to the team has the Knicks looking new, exciting and gives reason for optimism again in New York.
“I love the team I’m on and what the organization is trying to build here in New York, this is Melo’s team and my job is to help him win, by being the best I can be on the court and as a teammate,” Derrick Rose said.

Media day is filled with optimism from all around the league, nobody ever comes out and says, “yeah, we’re going to suck this year, don’t waste your time.” Every team believes they will be successful and has aspirations of winning the championship in June. It just so happens to be that only 16 of the 30 NBA teams make the playoffs, only two of those teams make the NBA Finals, so there is only one champion, but there’s nothing wrong with some optimism!
