Finding Time in Your New Schedule

I think one of the hardest things about being a new parent is learning how to manage your time. Balancing being new mom and taking care of your baby as well as still working and going to school can be extremely challenging. The new found lack of sleep can also lead to additional stresses. Being tired sometimes makes it harder to find the motivation to do other things like school work. I know from experience that by the time I get home from work and get Evelynn to sleep, I am normally exhausted. Trying to do school work at this point in time results in me doing not the best work or just not doing the work period. Instead, I have learned to plan ahead and make sure I put time aside durning my days to get my school work done.
Working is something that I also make time for. It may only be two nights a week right now, but hey! It helps! Evelynn’s dad, my fiancé, watches her while I work nights as well as go to school. My mom helps out and watches her days while I’m in school as well. This takes away some of the stress of being the sole one responsible for watching her. I have a great number of friends that share a similar schedule with there families. One parent works during the day and the other will work nights.
I think that this was the most challenging part of being a new mom. You no longer can just come and go as you please. Now everything must be thought out and planned. Babysitters are needed, thankfully my mom lives across town, and schedules for each week are made. The planning ahead really does take a lot of stress away!
