A Rose Distraction to Begin a Season of Optimism

As the Knicks were preparing themselves for work on the court, their starting point guard, Derrick Rose, was absent as he had business to deal with off the court.

Acquired via trade in June from the Chicago Bulls, both the Knicks and Rose were aware of the possibility of missed practices and preseason games. Rose missed 10 practices and five games as he was in Los Angeles, taking part in a Civil Trial where he and two friends were accused of rape.

Although there was no jail time at stake here, just money, Rose didn’t come out smelling like himself. After explaining to the court room that he was taught in NBA rookie camps to flush condoms down the toilet when he had sex, Rose added, “you never know what women are up to these days,” according to the NY Post.

This is the same Rose that at first wasn’t quite sure what consent meant, and then later on said, “If she had consented before in the past, why wouldn’t she that time?”

On Wednesday, October 19th, the verdict was Rose was not liable on all counts, therefore was cleared from forking over any of his millions. A distraction to begin an optimistic season for the Knicks, and a two week trial that will change how many see Rose as a person, forget a basketball player.
