Ice Fishing, Why?

"No body wants to go ice fishing on Candlewood Lake," said Mike from Candlewood Bait and Tackle.

According to Mike there's not much to catch in the man made lake her in Connecticut. The lake gets drained a bit every cold season and all of the fish head to the deepest, darkest corners of the valley where they wait out the cold.

"There just isn't much to catch, and if there is it's small crap like sunnies and perch," said Mike.

Ice fishing, in Connecticut, is apparently bland. However, the sport makes for a great past time in the northern states and Canada. Some ice fisherman take the initiative of making an ice fishing hut. This is usually a small hutch constructed on the lake that acts as a remote shelter for ice fishermen.

It's a cold, cruel sport with low yield on Candlewood Lake.

Here's a video of a gentleman who reels in a few sunnies and a perch before he checks a bigger line and is quite surprised at what he pulls up. He's ice fishing on Candlewood Lake.
